Subject matter
This print is part of a portfolio made in collaboration with Experiments in Art and Technology (EAT) and Moderna Museet as a fundraising effort for artists. Robert Whitman's work does not generally deal with two dimensional media. Instead his theater pieces and involvement in the fledgling "happenings" movement garnered attention for their whimsical mockery of societal norms. Whitman has folded the print in half so that it acts as a double sided work. A departure from the work Whitman is best known for, the piece melds the visual simplicity of minimalism with the action of performance art.
