Credit LineGift of Mr. Robert RauschenbergSubject matterThis work was included in a portfolio of works by 30 artists created as part of a fundraising effort for the project, Experiments in Art and Technology. This exemplifies the numerous architectural and floor plan drawings Morris created for exhibitions of his work, such as his 1970 Whitney Show. For this exhibition, Morris was very involved in the labor and process of the installation of his work. Morris felt that the true nature of his art lay in the process of creating works and bringing exhibitions together, rather than in a finished project. Here, Morris has drawn plans for situating a beam horizontally through a wall, under a window.
Physical DescriptionThis print looks like a construction drawing showing a section sliced through a wall. We see a vertical element in the middle that bisects the horizontal print and two horizontal elements extending from it to the right. Sections are labeled beam, window sill, floor, etc.
