Credit LineGift of Chet and Mary LaMoreSubject matterAlessandro Mastro-Valerio was a printmaker hailing from Italy. His subjects were most frequently female nudes however at the end of his life he spent about two years making abstract aquatints like this untitled print. Mastro-Valerio moved to Chicago in 1913 and then Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1919. He began teaching at Eastern Michigan University in 1922 (then known as Michigan State Normal College) and then part time at the University of Michigan in 1924, where he would eventually become a professor.
