Subject matter
This still life includes various vintage kitchen utensils made of metal. Each object stands upright, some seemingly defying gravity. The image is published in a portfolio-style book titled Objects, published in 1981, which includes 37 plates. Gruen's images feature items such as jars, bottles, pieces of food and other quotidian artifacts.
