A tall glazed and speckled white-blue porcelain offering dish for an altar. The base is a wide, slightly tapered cylinder. The dish a the top is quite wide and shallow until it reaches the point of the base, where there is a deep hole in the cylinder of the base.<br /> <br /> This is a hard-paste cup stand with a glossy surface. It is a high-grade object and was produced at a kiln in Bunwonri, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do. The peaked shade has eight panels with overlaid linear copper border decoration above a cove molded lower rim. The lamp retains four original sockets. The upper column consists of an octagonal capped vase-form with a dominant ogee profile over a round medial column which is slightly beveled in form and decorated with spaced, spirally arranged brass rods applied to its surface. The octagonal molded base repeats the ogee profile of the upper vase form.

A tall glazed and speckled white-blue porcelain offering dish for an altar. The base is a wide, slightly tapered cylinder. Where the base of the dish and the top of the base meet there is a bowl-shape ring as the bottom of the dish and a wide angled lip that surrounds it.<br /> <br /> A type of white porcelain ritual vessel, this cup stand was produced at a kiln in Bunwon-ri, Gwanju-si, Gyeonggido, the last official court kiln of the Joseon Dynasty. Its foot is high and has coarse sand spur marks on the foot rim. It is robust, flawless and coated with a transparent glaze with pale blue tints.<br /> [Korean Collection, University of Michigan Museum of Art (2014) p.201]
