This curved tile has small circles lining the edge of the two long, curved edges, and two shorter straight edges without special border decoration. The face of the tile is decorated with vegetal arabesque motif.<br /> <br /> This gray-white, low-fired earthenware concave eave-end roof tile features a scroll design. Although each motif on the front decorative surface of the tile is different, the scroll design demonstrates some degree of left-right symmetry. Traces of a parallel pattern made by a paddle four centimeters wide are visible on the flat surface of the tile. Traces of trimming and smoothing with water are also visible on the sides and joints. <p>[Korean Collection, University of Michigan Museum of Art (2017) p. 40]</p>

"This bowl on a high flaring foot probably was made in Kashan during the early years of the 13th century. Aside from a few touches of blue at the rim, the decoration consists of an undulating arabesque scroll which has been incised into the wall of the vessel just below the rim. The contours of the leaf forms were further defined by punching small holes in the vessel's walls which were subsequently filled by the transparent glaze. The connection of this group to Kashan is suggested by a bowl now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in which the interior of the vessel has blue and black underglaze painting in a style well known from other Kashan wares." -PPS

It is a black silk damask haori (short jacket for kimono) with wax-resist patterns, hand-painted design and metallic threads embroidery. The haori is in medium length, covering just underneath hip. It has elongated sleeves. The silk fabric is woven in a twill pattern of palace carts and flower baskets. Then the fabric is dyed with black. The white family crest under the collar and the diagonal part where chrysanthemum design would appear are left out from dying. The pinkish orange scale pattern is added using wax-resist technique. Chrysanthemum design is hand-painted with white, red, yellow, and blue colors. Finally embroidery is added in various metallic threads around the contours of the chrysanthemum petals and leaves.<br />Orange satin damask lining with woven wave design, with stenciled (?) designs of white flying cranes. Silver cord on one side, gold on the other, both with tassels.

This polychrome and glazed square tile is decorated with a symmetrical design of flowers and leaf arabesques in deep aubergine and yellow. It is covered in a lustrous glaze with black underglaze. The tile matches the style and decorative features of other 16th century Turkish tiles.
