Warm Up Visual Analysis - The Man with the Movie Camera

Let's get warmed up with a visual analysis exercise. There are numerous methods for engaging in visual analysis. Most describe a three-step process of some kind: see-think-wonder; describe-interpret-connect; see-feel-care.


The basic idea of behind these methods is to 1) look closely; 2) attend to the thoughts and feelings that the image evokes; 3) speculate about further questions; talk about the issues that the image addresses; connect the image to other disciplines or broader questions.


For our purposes, we are especially interested in describing, interpreting, and connecting the image and what we are saying it about to the questions, themes, and materials from your class.
