Subject matter
In this drawing, Mackey depicts a smiling figure, a common theme in much of his artwork. As in this work, his art is often characterized by energetic lines and bright colors. The Detroit-based artist was self-taught and provided inspiration and guidance for his grandson, Detroit artist Tyree Guyton. 

Physical Description
This drawing has a red colored border and an image of a person drawn in blue pencil with orange eyes and mouth. There are antennae/ears coming out of both sides of his head. In the background, there are grey crayon in swirled patterns throughout.
