Subject matter
Doğançay was inspired by walls and the graffiti that covered them which is reflected in Faschismus. He was raised in Turkey and later moved to New York City where he was exposed to a lot of graffiti and urban art. The title is German and translates to fascism in English revealing the highly political nature of the piece. One phrase reads, "Grego hates drugs and faschismus" and two other phrases appear to be from publication headlines.
