Subject matter
Maskelyne DA Region of the Moon is an artistic rendering of the geological map of a crater on the moon by the same name. The variations in colors and shape of the marking designate different sizes of craters and material makeup within the Maskelyne region. Graves's interests were quite varied including astronomy, palaeontology, and anthropology among other sciences. She incorporated the subjects into her prints, drawings, paintings, and most famously in sculpture with her hyper realistic constructions of animals and skeletons. Other pieces however are more subtle references of science into art, such as this cartographic artwork of a region of the moon.

Physical Description
This abstract composition is composed of small dots in blue, yellow, green, red, and purple floating on a white ground. The colors are grouped to form larger abstract shapes in varying sizes.
