Subject matter
Francis Bedford was an acclaimed British landscape photographer with a background in illustration. This photograph frames the doorway of the Barfreston Church in England. The arch has a stone carving, which depicts Majestas Domini, Christ in Glory. An older man sits on the steps, looking down and leaning against the left side of the doorframe.
