These would have been valued by ordinary people because of the practicality of the form. There were often made along side more refined wares at northern kilns.
Physical DescriptionThis large stoneware jar with tapered base and wide globular shoulder tapers towards a short flaring neck surrounded by four strap lugs. Wavy lines are incised around the shoulder and body, and the upper three-fourths of the jar is covered in a dark olive green glaze.
