Knoxville, Tennessee, Lyon traveled to Galveston, Texas. He had not found the material he had hoped to find in Knoxville. In Galveston, he photographed people and places that were outside of mainstream America. In this image, Lyon documents the inside of a bar on the beach. The bar contains irregular decor, including a large taxidermied bird on a dining table, and a painted pin-up on a beach, adorning a ceiling beam. Two children can be seen on the porch, looking into the bar through large screened windows.
Physical DescriptionPhotograph of the interior of a bar. A large taxidermy bird sits on a table in the center of the composition. The walls are decoratively painted. Outside, two children look in through the screened windows.
