Subject matter
Ichikawa Ebizō IX, also known as Ichikawa Danjurō XI, is from a long lineage of kabuki actors.  He was born in 1909 and held the name Ichikawa Ebizō from 1940-1962.  He died in 1965.

Physical Description
In this print, a man pulls his chin downward and looks forward against a plain background.  He wears a lightly patterned white robe underneath black and gold.  The hilt of a sword is visible at his waist.  His hair is pulled up into a tight topknot.
